Postoperative Lymphatic Drainage
Do you have a brazilian butt lift, lipo, or tummy tuck surgery planned? If you answered yes, or if you are considering one of these surgeries in the near future, you will want to keep reading!
Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM) is a specialized massage technique recommended post surgery to accelerate the recovery period. During a surgical procedure, the lymphatic fluids build up and result in swelling. Extra fluid and left over fat can harden under the skin between 1-3 weeks after surgery. This semi-permanent, hardened fat is called fibrosis.
LDM will help move this fluid back into your lymph passages so your body can naturally drain these fluids. We recommended that patients receive at least 10- 20 LDM for the best possible results. LDM is not painful. It is gentle and slowly pumps out the lymphatic fluid.
Every patient is different, however, most doctors advise their patients to begin their LDM treatment 24 hours after surgery to obtain the best, and fastest results.
